Melech Ronny
by Seymour Mayne
King Ronny was loved by all his subjects.
And why, every other monarch
ran into problems?
Ronny the First didn’t issue
declarations,
he published poetry.
But the Prime Minister and his
cabinet members
were definitely not amused.
How can we have a king who is
also a poet?
We know how the Maccabees
came to grief,
ruling while also serving as
priests.
With poets it is even more
extreme.
So King Ronny abdicated…for the
women
he loved. They were all
his Muses
and expected him home
every night of the week,
taking care to perform his
conjugal duties
even though he was tired
from working hard all day now
as a fully employed poet.
